We have lived in British Columbia for over 40 years. Val also spent part of her growing up years on Vancouver Island and since moving together to BC in 1975, we have vacationed and spent time on the Island.
We dreamt of a bed and breakfast for many years and carefully researched and planned for the day when we would retire from our vocation jobs and begin a new venture as hosts of a bed and breakfast. In 2015 we found our dream home and gardens in North Cowichan and began preparing it for guests. We fully renovated and repurposed the bed and breakfast level as well as the kitchen and dining area.
Paul is the chef and carpenter and Val is the gardener and housekeeper. Hospitality is our passion and we desire to share good conversation, good food, a relaxing garden environment and a ‘country casual’ home with our guests. We want our guests to experience the richness of the natural beauty, culture and food of the Cowichan Valley.
The property is named IslandSkye, for Vancouver Island and in fond memory of the best dog ever, Skye, a border collie who shared our lives for 15 years.
